Lighten My Dark exists to encourage and equip women with the truth of God's word, a light for the dark and bewildering places we often find ourselves.
"For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness" (Psalm 18:28). God illuminates even the blackest night.
Because of sin, we live in a fallen, broken world. Our lives are punctuated by the bitter even amidst the sweet. But God's truth is reassuring when everything else is uncertain. It lights our way. If we build our lives on anything other than God's word, we will always suffer disappointment.
The Bible is an anchor. It is the foundation for what we hold fast to as Christians. It forms our worldview even as it tells us who God is, what he's like, what he's done, and what he will do.
As Sally Lloyd-Jones puts it, "Now, some people think the Bible is a book of rules, telling you what you should and shouldn't do. The Bible certainly does have some rules in it. They show you how life works best. But the Bible isn't mainly about you and what you should be doing. It's about God and what he has done" (The Jesus Storybook Bible, p. 14).
It is good news for women everywhere.
Lauren Heller is the author behind Lighten My Dark. She is wife to Aaron and together they are raising a beautiful and often messy blended family, sustained by God's grace and words. She is passionate about women knowing the Bible for themselves and treasuring Christ above all else.
Since giving her life to Jesus as a single working mom to a special-needs boy, she has made it a daily habit to read the Bible. She believes the Bible is a non-negotiable for Christian women. It is what they truly need, to be nourished and fed by God's words and truth.
